For some universities in the Philippines, classes have just started this August. It's been almost 5 months of summer vacation and we now bid goodbye to the days we've spent staying up til midnight and waking up in the afternoon. At this moment, we're finally down to the last days of our vacation to use for some school preparations. Others might have already started advance reading or making a monthly savings plan. But before that, we must also find time to prepare how we'll be conquering each challenging day in college with what we are going to wear. I can say that one of the most important things among the prep list is the school shopping. I've been looking forward to this since the very first day of summer vacation that's why I made ways to earn money for this much awaited season.
When I was in high school, the only usual things I buy for the start of classes are a new set of uniform, school supplies, books, utensils, and the like. Since I'm already in college, the list of things to buy will be cut short. In my university, books will be rented and not much school supplies are needed (yes, you may survive with just a yellow paper, a reliable ballpen and a generous seatmate).
Since we don't have a uniform nor a dress code, I am much excited to go to school because I can wear anything (No, I won't be the first lady Oble). With that, I started drawing some ideas of what I want to wear for my classes and other school activities. Of course I can't buy all of it yet that's why I'm very thankful Polyvore made it possible for me to mix and match sets of clothes to see if it's worth a day of wearing at school and I'll be sharing to you my top 10 picks:
1. Denim x Prints
Denims paired with prints are once again stealing the scene in the street fashion. You can never go wrong with this (Topshop Moto) Denim Jacket, a Ditsy floral skirt (Forever 21), and a basic gray Cami Top (Forever 21). Detail it with a white leather backpack paired with white sneakers (Converse Low Cut). Achieve that brainy chic look with a square framed glasses (Forever 21) and get some blush and lip luster with a Lip and Cheek tint (I recommend the one from The Body Shop, a shade of red).
2. When Black meets White
You mean black and white? Here's my pick. A b&w sleeveless plaid top (Lucluc), a mini satchel (Isaac Mizrahi Imogen), a pair of b&w sneakers (Adidas Superstar), finished with a black bowler hat (H&M) and a simple watch is all you need to rock it. Talk about the hair and beauty, it's really nice to get an ash brown hair color styled with some soft waves for a black hat. Since this set of outfit is on the subtle side, choose a lip shade that's just not too loud nor too pale.
3. Laid back Blue
This set of outfit is just perfect when you decided to pull an all nighter last night and there's an early morning class the following day. When in this situation, I'll probably not have enough time to mix and match my clothes so I might rely on just wearing a simple base like this royal blue Shift Dress (Mango). Based on its name, a Shift Dress is something that you could dress up for an event or dress down for a daily use. It's not cold in the Philippines but I would still opt for a casual shawl (Aeropostale) to spice up the plain dress. A good pair of gladiator sandals (Maurices) and a statement bag (Givenchy) in the same shade of brown is just perfect to complete the look. Accessorize it with a rose gold watch (Michael Kors) for a classy look. Get some color in your face with the same shade of blush (H&M) and lipstick (Lancome). Zombie days? Get from building to building by rocking on this eyewear. Using it as a headband is a nice way to look fancy.
4. Pastel x Gold
Pastels will always be an option when the weather is good. I'm pretty sure that this tie-dyed pleated Cami (Choies) will be a good match for a pale blue Tapered Trousers (Paul Smith). Incorporate some gold accessories like this LOVE necklace and watch (Michael Kors Bradshaw). The Last Unicorn Hologram Clutch (Dolls Kill) is just so adorbs!! Lipstick from Estee Lauder and Blush on from Chanel.
5. Chic and Chill
Don't you think that a tie-front cropped top (Tibi) and a mid wash denim skirt (Miss Selfridge) are kinda 90's? Well it's just so nice to throwback these pieces by innovating with a modern sense of style. Loving the cross-body leather clutch (Dolce and Gabbana), Wolf Gray Nike Airmax 1, edgy sunnies, leather strap watch (Kate Spade), and a simple arrow necklace. Go girly with pastel shades of Deborah Lippmann.
6. Neutrals
These coordinates just proved to us that wearing shorts and sleeveless will not always project a seductive look. Rock this top (Zara), Utility Shorts (Oasis), Lace up Sandals (O'neill) and watch set (Aeropostale) to achieve this get up. Wear a printed cross body bag and turn the basics into classics!
7. A Pop of Color
Got passion for black but not all black? Get these on! Show off your Nike Air Huarache with a tank top, harem pants, moto hoodie jacket and a utility rucksack bag (Nike). Accessorize it with a choker and surely, you'll be the next top sporty chic in class.
8. Pretty in Peach
I've been obsessed with shift dresses and shawls recently that's why this peach shift dress (Aeropostale) caught my eye. Come together with a Floral Tassel Scarf and a Boyfriend watch both from Aeropostale. Give a strong impression with a pair of Gobbin Booties (Steve Madden) and a brown rucksack bag. Golden Heart earrings (Kate Spade) and J. Crew Rayban Highstreet Round Sunglasses to accessorize. Wear a little peach lip cream to match your outfit.
9. Boho
Coachella vibes for today's adventure. Wear a black tank top and a printed pompom shorts. Pair it with a beaded gladiator sandals to finish the comfy feels. A simple cross body bag (H&M), a pair of peach pearl earrings, a set watch (Aeropostale), and a simple gold necklace (Kate Spade) are the best essentials to go with. Get a french braid and a light peach lipstick and you're good to go.
10. Vintage x City Boho
Fringe fringe fringe! This Lace fringe hem tank (A&F) is such a fab piece. It's nice to wear with a Mom Jeans (Topshop) and a gray buckle shoulder bag (SheInside). Feel comfy and cool with this Chanel Espadrilles. Wear a simple black belt, a silver watch, and an arm bangle for accessories. Also, this layered necklace from Vince Camuto is a superb and you'll probabbly use it often. Innovated vintage pieces are making a big come back!
