"You
take me higher than I've been before, it's your perfect love that sees
me soar. God your freedom is an open door, you are everything I want and
more!" I remember every time a friend or a relative asks me how the
camp was, I would automatically sing that part of the song This is
Living Now.
It
was my first time to attend the college camp but my fourth time since
when I was in high school. It was once again, another life moving
experience for me. This is really the time of the year that I always
look forward to because of new friends, life long memories, and most of
all, a solemn bonding with the Big Guy up there! As usual, Camp Calye
has so much in store for every camper more that what we just expected.
Each day was jam packed with fun filled activities. Not only my physical
strength was tested, but also my mental, emotional, and spiritual
strength.

At
first, I thought that my team would not be that fun because almost
everyone were quiet during pre-camp. It was so awkward since I am a
talkative person and they were all quiet. I said to myself, "Rica,
pre-camp palang. Nagkakahiyaan pa yan so don't worry." But as time goes
by, each member started speaking, and voila! We were able to discuss
everything and even create a final team name. It was nice working minds
with a new family. Then came the day we've all been waiting for. I was
surprised to see my teammates seated behind me on the bus. We exchanged
our Good morning's and expressed our unwavering excitement.

Touch down Tanay Adventure Camp |
The
first day started with a warm welcome from our dearest Ate Chai,
facilitating camp rules, and a getting to know activity. I will never
forget what the emcees Ate Jaffa and Kuya Nicho would always say,
"Mahalin ang Tanay Adventure Camp." Another thing I love the most about
Camp Calye is that everything is in line with the theme, like this
year's Joyride where camp areas were given a unique name like Monumento
for the rappelling tower, R. Papa for boys' comfort room, R. Mama for
girls, and so on.

College
Camp Calye has officially started! Rules were set, games were played,
food were prepared. Songs were practiced, hands were raised, and stories
were shared. I believe it's more than that. I got to know more about my
teammates' lives and baggages. I started to appreciate the little
blessings in my life and thanked God for not giving me problems as heavy
as theirs. I was also able to hear personal testimonies and talks. The
most remarkable for me was Ate Angel Ramos' sharing and Ate Lulu's talk,
maybe because they were both Accountants which I also dream to become.
Hands down to their hard work! The talk about Stopover struck me the
most. R-E-S-T which means Refuel, Evaluate, Silence, and Try Again was
the biggest message I received from God.

My
favorite activity at camp was trekking at Calinawan Cave going to
Daranak Falls. It is something I am not able to do regularly so I made
sure to make the most out of it, regardless how tiring it would be.
There's also the mud slide and some ropes course. But most of all, I
will always linger the ministry time during the last night when I had a
personal conversation with God.

There's
nothing to regret about joining the College Camp. Since I belong to the
youngest group, I think I am the youngest camper present. At 15 years
old entering first year college, I got to listen and understand every
detail in a matured way which I believe would be a good head start of
college life. I also had a lot of new friends from different teams who
became my ate's and kuya's. They have been there for four days cheering
me up and entertaining my questions about college and career.
Thank
you very much to my team, LamborGREENY, for making my Joyride extra
special. Thanks also to YH for the full camp sponsorship I got from
being the Prom Queen last YH Prom. Thank you Mommy Ria and Daddy Ronnie
for allowing me join again. Thank you to my buddy, Ate Bianca for always
waiting for me. Most of all, thank You Daddy God for the safe trip and
the strength you gave me to finish every challenge. Besides the
heartaches, I will surely treasure this year's Camp Calye. This is the
life I chose to embrace.
